Our Flight Routes

Golden Bay Air operates year-round scheduled flights between Wellington, Karamea, Nelson and Takaka in Golden Bay—a hidden corner of New Zealand, rich in history, the arts and extraordinary natural beauty.

Our routes are amongst the most scenic in Aotearoa New Zealand. Departing Wellington the intricate Marlborough Sounds spread out beneath you, from Karamea you track through the peaks of Kahurangi National Park, and from Nelson you'll fly over golden sand beaches of Abel Tasman National Park.

Flying at the perfect height for great viewing, you can wear a two-way headset to listen to the pilot's route commentary and chat with other passengers.

Wellington⇄Takaka Scheduled Flights

Experience breathtaking views on Golden Bay Air’s 60-minute flight between Wellington and Takaka. Connect seamlessly to daily flights to Karamea and shuttle services to the Heaphy Track and Abel Tasman National Park. Rental cars available at Takaka Airport.

Note: Some departure times are amended and additional services scheduled around public holidays including Waitangi, Easter and ANZAC, Kings Birthday, Matariki and Labour weekends.

Our scheduled flights between Nelson and Takaka route provide a convenient and scenic connection with other regions and services, including our own Heaphy Track, Abel Tasman and shuttle services. Rental cars available at Takaka Airport.

Karamea⇄Takaka Scheduled Flights

Golden Bay Air flights between Takaka and Karamea are the quickest and most spectacular way to access remote Karamea. Connect with our shuttles on a Heaphy Track walking or biking adventure or explore untouched wilderness, including the famed Oparara. Takaka to Karamea flights are often available as flight specials.

Karamea→Nelson Scheduled Flights

Fly between Karamea and Nelson with incredible views over the Kahurangi National Park. These flights combine with our Nelson shuttles to Brown Hut to provide convenient return transport for Heaphy Track walkers and bikers. The flight usually stops over in Takaka en route to load and unload passengers.
