Heaphy Track Transport from Takaka
For walkers starting in Golden Bay, choose one of our transport options to Brown Hut at start of the Heaphy Track. Having completed the walk, fly from Karamea back to Takaka to collect your car or onward transport. Leaving your car at Takaka verses Brown Hut saves an extra hour drive time at the end of your walk.
Heaphy Track Transport from Karamea
Leave your car at Karamea Aerodrome and fly to Takaka, catch our shuttle into Brown Hut, then walk back to the Karamea end of the track.
Heaphy Track Transport from Nelson
We offer on-demand flight and shuttle services from Nelson to Brown Hut. At the completion of the Heaphy, we fly you from Karamea back to Nelson to meet your onward connections.

Heaphy Track Information
*Shuttle transport from Kohaihai carpark to Karamea Aerodrome is provided by Karamea-based operators. We can book on your behalf. Fares are $15 per person. See our Heaphy Track Frequently Asked Questions for further information. Hut and camping passes must be booked with the Department of Conservation.
From ancient Beech forest to alpine tussock downlands to palm fringed wild beaches, the Heaphy Track traverses a diverse range of landscapes and vegetation. Though the longest of New Zealand's 9 Great Walks, the track is well graded and achievable by anyone with moderate fitness. Accommodation is of a high standard with two new huts built in 2012/13 and a third replacement planned.
