Abel Tasman Transport Package from Wellington

Our great value Abel Tasman transport package includes all flights and ground transport from Wellington to and from the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Fly in from Wellington and start your walk at Wainui Bay. Walk as far as you like, then catch a water taxi back to Totaranui where our shuttle will be waiting to transfer you to your return flight back to Wellington.

You can break your journey at any point—for example to overnight in Takaka. You can also book your package in either direction.

Scenic Flights

Golden Bay Air offers spectacular scenic flights over the Abel Tasman.

Water Taxi and Cruising

Abel Tasman Sea Shuttles, Abel Tasman Aqua Taxi, Marahau Water Taxis and Wilsons Abel Tasman provide water transport services to Totaranui from all points further south in the Park.

Guided Walks

Kahurangi Guided Walks, Southern Wilderness and Abel Tasman Guides all provide excellent single or multi-day guiding services in the Park. Abel Tasman Eco Tours also offers a great day out with shuttle and walking tour options.


Based at Tata Beach, Golden Bay Kayaks offers single or multi-day kayak hire with guiding and kayak/water taxi combination options.

At the south end of the park talk to Abel Tasman Kayaks, Kahu Kayaks, Marahau Sea Kayaks and the Sea Kayak Company.


If you are looking for excitement, Abel Tasman Canyons provides a range of canyoning adventures for all skill levels.


Skydive Abel Tasman offers tandem skydives from Motueka Airport with a unique perspective of the Abel Tasman on the way down!

Diving and fishing

Wildcat Charters offer fishing charters and sightseeing cruises into the park from their base at Wildcat Motel in Pohara.

Abel Tasman Dive offers PADI dive training and diving adventures from Kaiteriteri.


The route from Wainui Bay to Totoranui via Gibbs Hill is open from May through September. Check out the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park, or ride the Rameka Track from the top of the Takaka Hill. Talk to us about shuttle transport for your rides!


Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures offer a wide range of scenic sailing single and multi-day tours and combination activities.

Abel Tasman Coastal Track

The 51km Abel Tasman Coastal Track is New Zealand's easiest Great Walk. It extends from Wainui Bay (24 km from Takaka) to Marahau (62 km from Nelson).

The coastal track crosses estuaries, two of which are only passable near low tide. Please consult tide timetables when planning your trip.

Huts in Abel Tasman do not have cooking fuel supplied. Camping fuels are as hazardous substances and cannot be carried on aircraft. We can provide fuel at cost-price when you arrive in Takaka by prior arrangement.

Hut spaces and campsites need to be booked prior to departure. Refer to the Department of Conservation for track and booking information.

Accommodation is also available at Aquapackers, Awaroa Lodge, Wilsons Beachfront Lodges or by renting an Awaroa holiday home.
